The annual Congleton Summer Beer Festival is almost upon us, and promises to be bigger and better than ever. The event will take place on Saturday 28th June in the big marquee on Hankinson's Field, beside Congleton Leisure Centre, and the planning is just about complete. The organisers, Congleton Round Table and Congleton Ladies Circle, are building on previous years' experience - this year will be fourth event - to increase the capacity and the range of beers and ciders. Congleton Ladies' Circle Chairman, Liz Latham, said "We are really looking forward to this year's festival. Last year's event, although hit by some awful weather, was still a sell-out. Everyone who took part either to help run the event or just to come along and enjoy the beers had a really great time and this year will be even better. As well as enjoying the day, we raised thousands for local charities and good causes, and we aim to do even better this time."
Event organiser, Nigel Staniforth, said "We have increased our licence capacity this year due to achieving a sell-out in previous years. Not only does this mean more people can come along to what is now one of the highlights of Congleton's calendar, but we can put on an even better range of real ale and cider. Coupled with the live entertainment from Dazed and Confused, a great time is guaranteed."
Congleton Round Table Chairman, Dan Inman, is also part of the organising committee: "We will be making tickets available from the start of June for the evening session, at our usual outlets: Congleton Leisure Centre, Congleton Tourist Information Centre and the Beartown Tap. Last year was a sell-out and we had to turn people away in the evening who had just turned up, so the message is clear - if you want to be sure of getting in for one of the best nights in the year, get your tickets early!"

Dazed & Confused are returning to the Beer Festival for a second year, and are delighted to bring their own take on good time rock and pop classics to the good people of Congleton once again! Those who have seen us before will know that it's all about keeping moving - because if we don't we'll seize up!!
The line up is now pretty settled, although it has changed from last year - the guitar giant that is Frank Witt is still ripping it up although, unfortunately, his fellow axeman Andy Smith has a family engagement, and so cannot be with us this year, but Storm Brewing partner Dave Stebbings will be providing able support on acoustic guitar and vocals. The back line still has Storm Brewing's master brewer Hugh Thompson thumping his drums, and we are delighted to have our own "personal Jesus" Matt Johnson on bass - how he fits his musical commitments around his religious ones, we'll never know (you'll have to see Matt to understand this!). Paul Morrissey and Chrissie Cooke remain on lead and backing vocals - they continue to strive to make themselves heard above everyone else - and sometimes even manage it! Completing this year's line up is our old friend and colleague Paul Hambley on keyboards; Paul played with the band for a couple of years, and now makes periodic guest appearances to stop his fingers seizing up - we're delighted to have him with us!
So, relax (but not too much), jump up and down, swing your pants, do whatever makes you happy and enjoy the Dazed & Confused party!
