Round Table is a social club with a conscience. We manage a couple of quite large activities that raise money that we distribute during the year to local good causes and charities. Any suggestions on groups or charities that we can help are greatly received. We consider the requests on a case by case basis.
Congleton Beer Festival 2011
Put the date in your diaries, calendars, i-Phones, write it on your hand, but don't miss out on what has become a firmly established event in the town's summer season. It's June, so that can mean only one thing - it's the Congleton Round Table and Ladies' Circle Summer Beer Festival. The date you need to remember is Saturday 25th June and the venue is the big marquee on Hankinson's Field beside the leisure centre. Tickets will be going onsale from the 1st of June from the Tourist Information Centre at the Town Hall and usual outlets.
"We've kept our increased capacity again this year which is a sure sign that the people of Congleton really enjoy this annual day out. No-one should be disappointed at not getting in but don't leave it too late to get your tickets, the popularity speaks for itself".
The Red Barrows at Congleton Carnival
Gentlemen
The gratitude of every home in Congleton, in Cheshire, and indeed throughout the this Sceptred Isle, except in the abodes of the guilty, goes out to those plucky chaps who, undaunted by odds, unwearied in their constant challenge and mortal danger, are turning the tide of the Congleton Carnival by their prowess and by their devotion. Never in the Hankinson's field of generally titting around was so much owed by so many to so few. All hearts go out to the barrow pilots, whose brilliant actions and ground level displays we see with our own eyes day after day (but mostly on Saturday 10th July); but we must never forget that all the time, night after night, month after month, our barrow bomber squadrons travel far to National Sporting Weekend in Lancaster (3rd September), find the toilets in the darkness by the highest navigational skill, aim their attacks, often under the heaviest fire, often with serious loss of dignity, with deliberate careful discrimination, and inflict shattering blows upon squadrons from Round Table Areas other than 22. On no part of the Round Table Air Force does the weight of the war fall more heavily than on the daylight bombers, who will play an invaluable part in the case of invasion and whose unflinching zeal it has been necessary in the meanwhile on numerous occasions to restrain.

This money will be put to a good cause to purchase new camping equipment. We especially require new gas stoves, which we be used on the 6er camp in June and the Cheshire Jamboree camp in July and August 2010.
Beartown Boxing Club Open Day and Photo / Cheque Presentation
Beartown ABC had an open day at their gym in Buglawton. We gave them some money towards equipment so that they could improve the quality of the training and increase their appeal to local kids interested in burning off a bit of energy down in the boxing ring. Here are a few photos taken at the open day including the obvious cheque presentation photo (we tried to get a little kid lay a few punches on James but they didn't seem keen!).
